Clayton State music student to perform at Spivey Hall on Monday Dottie Niles, a typical atypical student at Clayton College & State University, will be the featured composer at a Spivey Hall concert on the University's Morrow campus on Monday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. A Clayton State music major who also works in the University's alumni/development office, Niles epitomizes Clayton State's large quotient of non-traditional students -- those individuals who have returned to college more than five years (in some cases, many more than five years) after completing high school. As a result, Clayton State has an average student age of 27, and 90 percent of the student body also hold down at least a part-time job. In Niles' case, she returned to college after her children were grown... and after her children had children of their own. A resident of Clayton County, Niles is both a professional musician and a student in the University's acclaimed music program. The Nov. 20 concert of Niles' music will feature Amy Foster (piano), Kevin McPherson (trumpet), Chantrice Barnes (soprano), Melissa Bayliss (flute), Jeff Chandler (tenor) and Krista Niles (mezzo soprano). |
