Opening Friday Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas Jim Carrey plays the Grinch with all the over-the-topness that people either love or hate. I think he is very funny and I trust Director Ron Howard to make a good movie out of the classic story. This should be the big holiday picture, so get ready for big lines and enjoy. Rated PG. Now Playing Bedazzled Brendan Fraser plays a nerd who wishes he were cooler. He signs a deal with the devil, played by Elizabeth Hurley, and gets to live seven different lives in his search for happiness. This is a remake of an old movie and it looks hysterical. Rated PG-13. Book of Shadows: Blair Witch II No shaky cam techniques (at least not as much) and now we know that the story isn't real. This film pretends that the original film is real, though, and looks like it could be scary. Enjoy. Rated R. Charlie's Angels This looks pretty cool, but looks can be deceiving. Lucy Liu, Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore play the Angels who must stop the bad guy (Tim Curry? Again?), while Bill Murray plays Bosley. I can honestly say that I've never seen a full episode of the tv show. Hopefully, I'll be able to follow the plot. Rated PG-13. Dr. T and The Women Richard Gere stars in this film about a gynecologist with women problems in Texas. Directed by Robert Altman, this stars Helen Hunt, Shelly Long and many other fine actresses. Rated R. The Exorcist One of the greatest horror movies of all time, in all of its split pea soup-spitting glory. Where was the hoopla over this film's release? Rated R. Little Nicky Hooray! A new Adam Sandler movie and this one stars Harvey Keitel and Patricia Arquette. Look for the son of the devil to whip up on Charlie's Angels. Rated PG-13. Legend of the Drunken Master Jackie Chan stars in this film from the early 1990's about a man who fights better when he is drunk. Chan is amazing and was much younger in this film. If you like this type of movie, you will like this movie. Rated R. Lucky Numbers John Travolta (The Boy in the Plastic Bubble) stars as a TV weatherman who tries to cheat the lottery and almost gets away with it. Lisa Kudrow, Tim Roth and Michael Moore also star. Rated R. Meet the Parents Here is my pick for a sleeper hit of the year. This film was hysterically funny and one could really feel the embarrassment of Ben Stiller's character. It was sometimes painful to watch because the situation got worse and worse. See this film you won't be disappointed. Rated PG-13. Men Of Honor Cuba Gooding Jr. and Robert Deniro play scuba divers in the Navy. Deniro takes on a southern acent and Gooding Jr. demands rspect. This looks very serious and very good. rated R. Pay it Forward Oscar winners and nominees galore in this film about doing favors for others if favors are done for you. Getting good Oscar buzz, like Helen Hunt, Kevin Spacey and Haley Joel Osment really need it. Rated PG-13. Red Planet A crew goes to Mars and is attacked by machines. Why can't we have Mars being populated with humanoid type aliens that fight with water or food? Rated PG-13. Remember The Titans Based on the true story of Virginia's first integrated high school football team, this film stars Denzel Washington and is fun for the whole family. Rated PG. The Contender Gary Oldman (Sid and Nancy) stars in this political thriller about a man trying to sabotage a female vice presidential candidate, Oldman looks terrific. Rated R. The Legend of Bagger Vance Filmed in Savannah, this film is about a golfer finding redeption thanks to a ghostly caddy. Directed by Robert Redford, expect luscious scenery and excellent performances. Matt Damon and Will Smith star. Rated PG-13. The Little Vampire Johnathan Lipnicki (the little boy in Jerry Maguire and the short-lived television series Meego) travels to Scotland and makes nice with a vampire. He then decides to help save them from a life of eternal darkness. A cute comedy that is acceptable for the whole family. Rated PG. Also Playing Autumn in New York Winona Ryder is dying and Richard Gere plays the older man who falls in love with her and, "doesn't want to let her go." This is a tear-jerker and from what I hear it's not very good. Rated PG-13. Bait This action-comedy starring Jamie Foxx got solid reviews and did well at the box office. It looks entertaining. Rated R. Beautiful Sally Field directed this film about a woman who schemes her way to the top of the bauty pageant circuit. One word: Yuck! Rated PG-13. Disney's The Kid Bruce Willis plays a mean, old 40 year old who rediscovers being nice and following his dreams when he meets himself as an eight year old. I won't standi in your way of seeing this, but I won't go with you. Rated PG. Nurse Betty An excellent movie with a solid cast and a good script. This dark comedy deals with celebrity, obsession and loyalty. You'll either love it or you'll hate it. Rated R. Nutty Professor II: The Klumps I am not easily offended, but this movie succeded to offend me. It was awful and one of the worst movies I have ever seen. And I like Eddie Murphy and enjoyed the first
