Three former state champions in cross-country and track, two of whom are former Landmark Christian War Eagles, are making their marks on the collegiate athletic scene.

Peachtree City resident Nathan Kosiba and Matt Day, both graduates of Landmark Christian School, and Kyle McPhee, a graduate of Greater Atlanta Christian School, recently ran at Berry University's Southeastern Classic Cross Country 8K meet. The young men all run for Belmont University.

Belmont placed first in the meet with McPhee, a unior, placing second overall with a time of 25:29. Day, a Class A state champ in cross-country for three years in a row, placed third overall in a time of 25:32, while Kosiba placed sixth with a time of 25:55. Kosiba was the 3,200-meter state champ in 1999 and 2000. He also set the indoor Georgia High School Dome record in the 3,000 last February and ran the fastest outdoor 3,200-meter race with a time of 9:15.

Belmont University will compete this weekend at the NCAA South Regional Meet at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
