Power has shifted
to Supreme Court
According to Al Gore and Tim Parker, the Supreme Court should have the authority to interpret the Constitution any way they see fit. Their bottom line then is no matter what laws are passed by Congress, it is up to the nine people on the Supreme Court to determine what those laws really mean. The judiciary could decide that a law that says every individual has the right to have a television set really means that it is illegal to eat pork on Tuesdays, and that is just fine with Al and Tim. We could save the time and cost of having Congress pass laws and leave it up to the courts to define the laws for us since they are doing so anyway. Historically, our government has been based on checks and balances between the three branches of government. At this point in our culture, the balance of power has skewed dramatically towards the judicial branch and we are suffering the consequences. Pepper Adams Peachtree City
