The PACE Christian High School Panthers used a strong defense and big plays on offense to win against Newnan Christian Rams, 20-12 Friday at McCurry Park in Fayetteville before an overflow homecoming crowd. PACE used a 75-yard quarterback sneak to build a 6-0 lead. Newnan Christian tied the game 6-6 late in the second quarter. Newnan Christian capitalized on a fumble early in the third quarter to take a 12-6 lead. PACE responded with a 63-yard touchdown run from Brandon Stone to tie the game. The two-point conversion was good and PACE kept the lead. Newnan Christian fumbled in the fourth quarter and Stone scooped it up, running it to the Rams' 27. Cedric Allen scored on a 4-yard run to give the Panthers the win. Ryan Mickey led PACE in rushing with 115 yards on eight carries, while Allen led the team in defense with 11 tackles. "We didn't have much field position or the ball but we somehow managed to score enough points to win," said Coach John Massey. The Panthers (3-4) will look to do it again this Friday when they host Jacksonville Christian at 7 p.m. |
