Lady Patriots volleyball advances to elite eight By MICHAEL BOYLAN The Sandy Creek varsty girls volleyball team is re-writing the record books at Sandy Creek High School. For the first time in school history, the girls have made it to the Elite Eight of the AAAA state tournament. They defeated Ridgeland and Rockdale County over the weekend to make it to the Elite Eight. The Lady Patriots have their work cut out for them as they will face a tough competitor in Marist on Saturday morning at Woodland High School. "The girls are playing great right now," said Coach James Slaton, who has worked extensively on building a volleyball program at Sandy Creek. The team competed in several tournaments around the south, preparing them for facing tough competition and playing under great pressure. |
