CAI courses gain recognition from Georgia Real Estate Commission

The Georgia Real Estate Commission recently agreed to approve and recognize all of the Community Associations Institute's Professional Management Development Program (PMDP) courses for both pre-license education and continuing education credits in the state of Georgia. This means both real estate professionals and community managers may attend CAI courses and classes, and receive credit towards their certification and re-certification.

According to Noelle Larson, Executive Director of the Georgia CAI chapter, this is a great step forward for both the chapter, and for CAI itself. "Getting these courses approved is a great start in helping our community association management companies go further and excel in their professional development."

The PMDP courses encompass a variety of different classes that a community association manager takes in order to obtain his Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM®) designation. This designation is the highest nationwide professional recognition available to managers who specialize in community associations.

Created by CAI in 1982, the current designation requires individuals to have at least five years of experience, and to graduate from the PMDP program. The designation must be renewed every three years through work experience, service activities and continuing education.

There are two courses scheduled for 2001 with the first being offered Feb. 2; Association Communications. This course is worth 9 CE Credits. The second course is scheduled for the middle of November; Financial Management. This course is worth 12 CE Credits.

The Community Associations Institute (CAI) is a nonprofit association created in 1973 to educate and represent the nation's 205,000 community associations and condominium associations, homeowner associations and cooperatives. CAI members include homeowners, associations and related professionals and service providers. The organization can be found on the Web at www.caionline.org. The Georgia chapter's Web site is www.cai-georgia.org.
