Racers from Fayetteville and area race well in Senoia

Fayetteville's Ronnie Sanders closed the gap on Dawsonville's Rickey Turner Saturday night in the running of the Southern All Stars/Hence Pollard Memorial 125 as Sanders recorded his third win of the season.

Cumming, Ga.'s David Hole held on to finish second from his outside front row starting position after being shuffled back as far as fourth during the race. Scott Griffin from Tyrone's third place finish was the highest of all the local finishers that are not on the SAS regular roster this season.

Brook's Andy Cash passed second place finisher Jimmy Henderson with four laps remaining in the Sportsman division to record his tenth win of the season. Following Henderson across the line was Newnan's Steve Payton with Rod Williford and Darin Cronan rounding out the top five.

Locust Grove's Robbie Gober took the lead in the Street Stocks division with five laps remaining to record his ninth win of the season stretching his winning streak to four in a row. Finishing second was Senoia's Mark Lore with Keith Anderson in third. Following Anderson in fourth was Fayetteville's Mike Steffens.

Fayetteville's Darrell Carlson was too tough to tame Saturday night leading all 25 laps of the Mini Stock feature for his seventh win of the season. The race was marred by seven cautions. Finishing second was Mike Chambers who took the position with six laps remaining. Troy French finished third with Cary Hamilton fourth. Fifth place went to Dan Oxenford who held the second place position until the closing laps.

Lovejoy's Doug Stevens took the lead for his sixth win of the season in the Pro and Semi Pro Masters race with five laps remaining when he passed Peachtree City's Read Sorenson who finished a close second to Sevens. Third place went to Shane Upchurch with Walt Brannen and Johnny East rounding out the top five.

A scary moment happened on the first lap when Newnan's Oliver Gentry went air-born and went into the outside retaining wall head-first. The crowd looked on in horror for all of five minutes until Gentry emerged from the car assisted by track paramedics. Later reports revealed Gentry had broken the Tibia in both legs as a result of the impact with the wall.

Senoia's Scott Tinsley showed why he is the Chargers points leader as he led all 20 laps in the feature for his seventh win of the season. Second place went to pole starter Cindy Anderson with Bobby East in third. Fourth place went to Bubba Pollard with Michelle Theriault in fifth.

Adam Aldredge led from the drop of the green flag to the checkers in the Bandoleros race for his first win of the 2000 season at Senoia Speedway. In second was Dale Akridge followed by Adam Clay in third with Brian Sharp and Tyler Pritchard in fourth and fifth. An unfortunate turn of events happened in the heat race wrecking Matthew Peeples, who has consistently finished in second place for the last four weeks in racing at Senoia Speedway.
