Games a plenty on the home front tonight

You want to see a football game this Friday, but you don't want to have to travel too far.

Not a problem. All of the local teams are playing at home tonight and the menu is choice.

The Starr's Mill Panthers (4-0) have the premiere game of the week, as they host the Mt. Zion-Jonesboro Bulldogs (2-1). Mt. Zion was the state runner up in AAA last year and still fields a powerful team. The Panthers must get by the Bulldogs this week and Lovejoy next week before their schedule gets any easier. This game also is the TV 33 High School Game of the Week and will be broadcast on TV33 at 7 p.m.

Sandy Creek (2-1) will host a big match as well. The Patriots are currently ranked fourth in AAAA and their opponent, Creekside (4-0), currently is ranked sixth in AAAA. Sandy Creek had a bye last week to prepare for this game and the Patriots always come out explosive when they play at home. If the offense has a good game, the Patriots have an excellent chance of moving up in the rankings yet again.

The Northgate Vikings (4-0) are currently ranked fifth in AA and will have a battle ahead of them as they host Manchester (2-1). The Vikings had one of the biggest games in their short history last Friday and should carry over much of the emotion from that win.

Fayette County (1-3) hosts East Coweta (3-0) and must find a way to stop the Indians from scoring as well as a way to stay consistent on offense. East Coweta has looked good so far this season, but they haven't reached the toughest part of their schedule yet, either.

McIntosh (0-3) hosts Eagle's Landing (1-2) as part of its homecoming festivities this Friday. The Chiefs are looking to put all of their pieces together this week, play a mistake-free game and get a much-needed win. This should be a good game for McIntosh, as the two teams are fairly evenly matched.

Landmark Christian (1-3) hosts Adairsville (2-2) and is looking for a win as well. The War Eagles have had two tough games in a row and need to stay consistent on offense to get a win. Their defense, which has been tested by some top programs in the past two weeks, should perform well.
