Nativity Episcopal Church will have pet blessing, picnic Oct. 1

The Episcopal Church of the Nativity will observe the feast of St. Francis of Assisi with the annual Blessing of Pets on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 4 p.m. The blessing will take place in the Memorial Garden at Nativity's new home on Antioch Road. The garden will include a special place for pets when it is completed.

A picnic will follow the blessing. Susanne Allen, a member of Nativity who provides shelter for animals who are abandoned, neglected and abused, is coordinating the picnic. Both the blessing and the picnic are open to the public.

All pets must be at least three months old, be current on shots, and must be kept on a leash and under the owner's control at all times. For more information, call Susanne Allen at 770-460-1321.

The Episcopal Church of the Nativity is part of the 93 parishes in the Diocese of Atlanta (www.episcopal-atl.org) and a member of the world-wide Anglican Communion.

The church is located at 130 Antioch Road. For more information, call the parish office at 770-460-6390. Nativity's pastor, Bob Hudak, can be reached at bhudak@mindspring.com.
