Two wins in three weeks is not bad for Tyrone native Scott Griffin, who was back with a vengeance and dominated from lap nine of the Alan Vigil Southlake Ford 50 to record his fourth win of the 2000 season in the Late Model Division Saturday night.

Griffin in his R & S Hauling/Steve Banks Enterprises Ford Taurus overpowered the field of Senoia late models from his second row outside starting position after inverting from a role of the dice. Griffin has captured the pole six times this season. He also won the Budweiser Pole Award Saturday night, making it three in a row as he took the pole with a lap of 13.858, beating out the second place qualifier, Wayne Hansard, by .288 seconds.

"It felt great to come out here and win tonight after driving so hard last week and finishing second," said Griffin in a post-race interview.

Griffin took the checkered flag for the win Saturday night with more than a half lap lead over Marc Mitchell, who started in eighth. Tyrone's Wayne Hansard narrowly holds a one-point lead over Tallahassee's Marc Mitchell, after Hansard's third place finish, making this the closest points race all season.

Saturday, Sept. 23, Senoia Speedway will award $3,000 to win in the Alan Vigil Southlake Ford Late Models 100 Lap Feature.

Union City's Rod Williford won the Sportsman Feature, making it his second win in as many weeks at Senoia Speedway Saturday night, when he passed Newnan's Steve Payton on lap 14 with 16 laps remaining for his third win of the 2000 season. Payton, who led the first 13 laps from the start, finished second with points leader Andy Cash finishing third. Finishing one lap down to the lead lap was Larry Pierce in fourth with Senoia's Mark Lore in fifth.

Locust Grove's Robbie Gober led from flag to flag for his seventh win of the season Saturday night in the Street Stock Feature. Gober, in his Sports Car Service Ltd./Pro-Blend/Dover Cylinder Head 1978 Chevy Malibu, led the way with his closest competitor, Senoia's Ted Willingham, finishing second several car lengths back. Third place went to Senoia's Mark Lore with Larry Pierce and Bubba Bales rounding out the top five finishers.

Mike Chambers spanked the entire field of mini stockers for his second win of the season as he led all 25 laps during his feature. Cary Hamilton finished second with Robbie Gober filling in for Darrell Carlson in the number 18 car in third. Making a very impressive run and finishing in fourth was Sam Adams with Dan Oxenford in fifth.

Locust Grove's Shane Upchurch snatched the victory away from Newnan's Oliver Gentry and Marc Mitchell with five laps remaining to record his fifth win of the season Saturday night. Oliver Gentry, the 1999 season champion, finished second with Mitchell in third. Rounding out the top five was Johnny East in fourth and Andy James in fifth.

Newnan's Emily Cone led from start to finish for her third win of the season in the Young Lions/Chargers Division with Brandon Brilliant from McDonough holding off Cindy Anderson and Bubba Harry for third and fourth. Senoia's Scott Tinsley was credited with fifth after an altercation between Tinsley and Bubba Pollard erupted, ending both of their nights of racing.

Sharpsburg's Matthew Peeples led the first of 11 laps of the Bandeleros Feature until Les Law passed him on the restart, before the line, with four laps remaining. Peeples tried several times in the remaining laps falling short by less than a foot at the drop of the checkered flag. The second place finish was Peeple's third in a row at Senoia Speedway as Rick Godfrey was incorrectly given the position in last week's race. Finishing third behind Law and Peeples were Chris Gables with Chris Dilbeck in fourth followed by Brian Sharp in fifth.
