Auditions for 'Nutcracker'

Fayette Ballet will conduct final auditions for its 13th annual production of "The Nutcracker" Saturday, Sept. 9.

Auditions will be at the School of Performing Arts studio, 102 N. 85 Parkway in Fayetteville, and are open to interested individuals in Fayette County and surrounding areas.

Children 4-6 years old will audition from 1-2 p.m. for parts as Baby Mice, Snow Flurries and Angels. Boys and girls 7-12 will audition from 2-3 p.m. for parts as Soldiers, Polichinelles, Party Children, Waltz of the Flowers, Corps de Ballet, Back-Up Chinese, Prince and Clara.

Intermediate and advanced jazz and ballet dancers 13 and up will audition from 3-4 p.m. for parts as Candy Canes, Snow Corps de Ballet, Military Dolls, Ballerina Doll, Russian, Spanish, Chinese, Mirliton, Arabian, Dew Drop Fairy, Mice and Rat King.

There is also a need for teenagers and adults for the first act party scene. Dance schools are given credit for student participation and experience is not necessary in all parts.

Dancers desiring to audition for the Fayette Ballet Youth Ensemble (8-12 years) and the Fayette Ballet Performing Ensemble (13 and up) will be adjudicated at the time of Nutcracker auditions. Nutcracker and company auditions are under the direction of Kathleen Senger, newly appointed artistic director of the Fayette Ballet.
