We all know the story. A beautiful
girl runs away from her loving father and evil stepmother, winds up living
in the woods with a group of midgets, gets poisoned by a piece of fruit
and eventually is rescued by a charming prince.
It is the story of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" and Fayette-Coweta
Family Theatre Inc. will present a musical version of the classic fairy
tale this weekend and next at Sams Auditorium in Fayetteville.
Part of the troupe's "Family Theatre Series," "Snow White"
features a full musical score, elaborate costuming, colorful sets and
a talented cast of 20 local residents, breathing new life into the tale.
MLE Reese stars as Snow White, while Joey Sommers plays the prince and
Marley Wells plays the Evil Queen.
This version of the play also will feature some new characters like the
Enchanted Vixen and the Mysterious Esmarelda.
Audiences also will have the opportunity to visit "Snow White's Gift
Cottage" before and after the show. Here they will find Snow White's
Royal Rings, The Prince's Medallions, Magic Mirrors and an assortment
of flowers.
"Snow White" is directed by Tammy Barton, who has directed other
family-friendly productions in Fayette County, such as "Beauty and
the Beast," "The Wizard of Oz," "Pinnochio,"
and "Huckleberry Finn."
The show will be presented Fridays, Sept. 8 and 15 at 7 p.m., Saturdays,
Sept. 9 and 16 at 3 and 7 p.m. and Sundays, Sept. 10 and 17 at 3 p.m.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $6 for children and seniors. Pre-sale tickets
are available for $6 at the Fayetteville and Peachtree City libraries
and by reservation. Call 770-251-7611 or visit the website www.geocities.com/stagelove35/family.html.
