Delta Air Lines today named Peachtree City resident Anthony Charaf senior vice president of Delta Air Logistics, effective September 1 .

In his new position, Charaf will lead all aspects of the airline’s cargo operating unit, which contributed one third of Delta’s operating income during the past fiscal year. He will play a key role in Delta Air Logistics’ worldwide growth and customer service strategies, reporting to Executive Vice President - Customer Service Vicki Escarra.

"Tony is a proven and well-respected leader who brings a wide range of knowledge of airline operations and business, plus a focus on operational excellence and customer service," said Escarra.

Charaf, 53, joined Delta in 1996 as director - engine maintenance and since then has assumed increasing leadership responsibilities. He is currently vice president - maintenance, responsible for all engine product lines, component maintenance and group and service equipment for the airline’s technical operations. He also led and implemented Delta’s award-winning process-improvement efforts in the technical operations division.

Charaf brings to his new position more than 25 years of experience in the aviation industry, ranging from operations and marketing to engineering and maintenance with companies such as Pacific Airmotive Corporation in Burbank, Calif. and Ryder Airlines Services.
