Fayetteville to get new post office

Residents in the 30215 zip code should have their own post office by next year.

That’s the word from Taryne Youngblood, who works at the Fayetteville Post Office. The new facility will be located on Huiet Road between Fayetteville and Peachtree City and be completed sometime in 2001.

Right now, Fayetteville is just served by the main branch on Georgia Avenue and the traffic can get a little congested.

“There’s not enough parking for the employees. We have to park in the back,” she said.

The current post office is landlocked, so there’s no way the facility could be expanded.

“When it was built, a lot of people didn’t want to sell their land, so we weren’t able to get enough property,” she said.

Youngblood is not sure of the size of the new facility, but said it will be staffed and also offer a drive-through window.

Postmaster Tourgee Simpson was in a meeting Tuesday and could not be reached for comment prior to deadline.
