Following an extensive search, the board of directors of Southern Regional Health System has appointed Edward Bonn, Certified Healthcare Executive, as President and Chief Executive Officer of the health system and Southern Regional Medical Center.

Bonn officially assumes the position Sept.5.

He comes to Southern Regional from the WellStar Health System in northeast Atlanta, where he served as Executive Vice President. He has 22 years experience in the healthcare field, including serving as President and CEO of Kennestone Hospital in Marietta.

“We are very excited to have Ed join us. The board felt that his experience , particularly in management and customer service, will be a great asset to Southern regional as we grow and expand many of our services,” said Benny Whitmore, chairman of the Board of Directors.
