Sports Calendar The Southwest Christian Hospice Celebrity Golf Classic will be held at Planterra Ridge Golf Club on Monday, Nov. 6. Jim Beauchamp, Kevin Millwood and Glenn Hubbard will be among the celebrtites gofing in the event. Call Mike Sorrow at 770-969-8354 to register. The Kiwanis Recreation Center is sponsoring a hike at Providence Canyon on Aug. 16. Registration is $15 and all incidentals will be at the expense of the hiker. Hikers leave the Kiwanis Recreation Center at 9 a.m. and will return at 6 p.m. All participants must be 16 years old or older unless accompanied by an adult. The Fayette County Recreation Department will be holding registration at the Kiwanis Recreation Center for the Adult Fall Volleyball Season, Aug. 7-11 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.Leagues offered this season will be a Tuesday Night Mens League, a Thursday Night Womens league and a Friday Night Coed League. The fee for each team is $140. Anyone who may be without a team but would like to play should call the Recreation Center to be placed on a team. The Fayette County 4-H Shotgun Club will have their clay target trap range open for public use on Saturday, August 12, 2000 from 9am-5pm. Adult donations for 25 thrown clay targets will be $5.00 and high school and younger will be half price. Free coaching will be available. The Tyrone Softball Association will hold registraion on Saturdays, Aug. 12 and 19 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and Sundays, Aug. 13 and 20 from 1-4 p.m. at the Tyrone Recreation Center for girls ages 4-18. The organiztional meeting for the 2000 adult flag football program has been scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 22 starting at 7:30 p.m. in meetng room #2 at the Kedron Fieldhouse and Aquatic Center. The program is available to adult men and women over the age of 18. A minimum of four teams are needed to start a league. |
