Eighteen bands have rocked out at Jitterbuggers, Peachtree City's Teen Club, over 80 times in the 13 months since the venue opened its doors.

Twelve of those bands will take the stage at the Battle of the Bands at the YMCA Pavilion Saturday, Aug. 12.

The bands are comprised of students from seven area high schools. East Coweta High School is represented by Jynxx and Sect, Turner Middle and Northgate High School by 7 Inch Midgets, Starr's Mill and Sandy Creek by Parkside View, McIntosh is represented by Harmony, Easy Way Out, Celestia, Menace/ATL, Cory and the Oysters and last Five Minutes and Fayette County High School is represented by Platinum Bummer and Crisis of Assimilation.

Four of these bands have released their own CDs in the past four months.

Their styles range from classic rock to punk to heavy metal and the young men who make up these bands have practiced long and hard developing their sound and building their fan base. The winner of the Battle of the Bands will receive air time on 99x, a local rock station.

The all-day concert will be at the YMCA Pavilion on Huiet Road. Shuttle buses to the event will leave from Jitterbuggers in Peachtree City. There will be power frisbee and volleyball matches and a cool picnic area at the covered venue. There will also be food and refreshments from Chick-fil-A, Pizza Hut and Coca-Cola.
