The Atlanta Silverbacks faced the Tennessee Rhythym on Friday and Saturday night in the inaugural Willie B. Cup. Friday night's game was played in Nashville, while Saturday's game was at home at Dekalb Memorial Stadium.

The Silverbacks went into the weekend in eighth place in the conference and on the verge of not making the playoffs. By the end of the weekend though, the Silverbacks found themselves one point out of third place. Atlanta defeated Tennessee on Friday night by a score of 4-1. By scoring three or more goals, they got a bonus point in the standings. They got another bonus point on Saturday night by winning by a score of 6-1.

The Silverbacks dominated the Rhythm from the get go, outshooting them 21-5 in Saturday night's win. Brian Piesner scored two goals on Saturday night, as the Silverbacks scored four times in the second half. The two wins in the first ever Wilie B. Cup give the Silverbacks an excellent chance of hosting a playoff game in September. They will face the Charleston Battery in Charleston this Saturday night.
