The Georgia Forestry Commission is continuing to accept orders for seedlings to be planted this winter. Application forms are available at all Georgia Forestry Commission offices.

Interested persons need to place their orders early so they can be assured to receive the seedlings they want.

Seedlings are sold bare root. Pine species come in packages of 50, 500 and 1,000.

Hardwood species come in packages of 50, 100, 250, 500 and 1,000. Species include bald cypress, crabapple, dogwood, persimmon, northern red oak, sawtooth oak and swamp chestnut oak.

Chase Manhattan Mortgage Corporation, one of the nation's leading mortgage lenders, has recognized the outstanding performance of Lisa King, a mortgage specialist from the Fayetteville office.

King has been named a recipient of the company's 1999 Leaders Club Award. Leaders Club is the company's national sales recognition program, which rewards exceptional mortgage loan origination performance.

W.F. Farr of Peachtree City has been recognized for 25 years of service with the Oglethorpe Power Corporation family of companies. The honor was given at the 2000 annual meeting in Atlanta.

Farr, who serves on the board of Coweta-Fayette EMC, is the company's representative on the Member Advisory Board for Oglethorpe Power.

Shannon Mall in Union City is having a Back to School Jam this Saturday. The mall will be filled with music to celebrate the last days of summer and the beginning of a new school year.

From 1-3 p.m., a live radio remote with 95.5 The Beat is scheduled. At 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., the hot new R&B group Nu Ground performs and signs autographs.

A fashion show also is set for 3:30 p.m.

Jmac Marketing is offering two free services to local businesses and nonprofit companies.

The first service is a new job exchange that can be found on the Web site, www.JMacSnippets.com.

Local businesses with job openings are invited to list the positions on the page and area individuals seeking employment may list their information on the page at no charge.

Another popular service is a free e-mail newsletter called Snippets. The newsletter has brief bits of community information including Chamber of Commerce events, civic and charity events, business happenings, sports and theater events.

The web site has been live for just over a month and has attracted 4,000 visitors.

Haiba Sonyika is now a new option for women's health care in Fayette County. Sonyika's office is at 155 Carnegie Place, Suite 101, in Fayetteville. She specializes in normal and high risk pregnancies, teen pregnancies, family planning and infertility. Sonyika's hospital affiliations are Southern Regional Hospital, Southwest Hospital, South Fulton Hospital and Atlanta Medical Center. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and evenings and Saturdays by appointment.

State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond announced last week that NCR of Peachtree City has earned the department's Award of Achievement in recognition of exceptional work place safety.

The award is made to an employer who has experienced between 125 and 249 continuous work days within a calendar year with no lost-time injuries.

Nancy Faulkner, city clerk of Peachtree City, has been awarded the prestigious designation of Certified Municipal Clerk from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks for achieving its high educational, experience and service requirements.

Faulkner has been employed with the city of Peachtree City since 1989, serving six years as secretary before her current appointment to clerk.

She attained her designation as Certified Municipal Clerk through completion of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks Institute Program conducted by the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia in Athens.
