Production
of 'Annie' postponed, auditions cancelled for now Fayette Community Theatre President Sylvia Wade announced the postponement of the company's planned production of the Broadway musical Annie. We were notified late last week that a National touring company plans to produce Annie at the Fox Thetaer in Atlanta during the early part of November, which restricts its production by any other theater group in the area, said Wade. As a result, auditions scheduled for this week have been cancelled until further notice. We are deeply disappointed in this development; however, we still plan to stage Annie here in Fayette County as soon as possible in 2001. We are working closely with the licensee who represents the copyright owners to determine a date that we can obtain permission to stage the show. Our first concern when we were notified of the cancellation of our performance rights was the deep disappointment this will cause so many youngsters who had notified us that they would audition for a role in the production, Wade added. We are currently working with the licensing authority to select a replacement that meets our standards for quality, family-oriented theater. We will announce within the next few days the production selected and its audition dates that will replace `Annie' in our schedule for Oct. 5 - 15, she said.
