Flat Rock welcomes new pastor, plans revival

Members of Flat Rock AME. Church will have a cookout and reception to welcome the Rev. and Mrs. Charles Atkins, Jr., their new pastor and “first lady,” this Saturday, Aug. 5, from 12 noon until 4 p.m. The community is invited to attend. Flat Rock is just off Ga. Hwy 54 near Adams Farm. The church is also planning a revival Aug. 14-18 with the Rev. David Bishop from St. Paul AME in Stone Mountain as guest speaker.

Watch weight go `weigh-down' at PTC UMC workshop

Free orientation classes are today, Aug. 2 and next Wednesday, Aug 9 for a 12-week weight loss/Bible study course at Peachtree City United Methodist Church. The Weigh Down Workshop Bible course is entitled, “Exodus: Out of Egypt.” Orientation classes start at 9:30 a.m. in room 309. The regular fall session begins Monday, Aug. 21 at 9:30 a.m. in room 301. Episcopal Church of the Nativity plans Bible studies

Two bible study groups at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity will meet weekly to “encounter the Scriptures.” One is an evening group which met for the first time July 27 from 6:30-8 p.m. The other is a daytime group which will meet for the first time Wednesday, Aug. 2 from 1-2:30 p.m. Content for the meetings will be the lessons for the following Sunday's Scripture lesson. All are welcome and there is no need to sign up. The Episcopal Church of the Nativity is located at 130 Antioch Rd. in Fayetteville.

Marilyn Campos will speak at CDM Sunday

Marilyn Campos of the Philippines will be the guest speaker this Sunday, Aug. 6, at CDM Teaching and Training Center in Tyrone. Meetings are scheduled Sunday morning from 10 a.m. until noon, and Sunday evening from 7-9 p.m. Campos hosts a radio station that ministers to over 12 million people. PTC United Methodist Men to meet Aug. 5

United Methodist Men of the Peachtree City United Methodist Church will have their general meeting on Saturday, Aug. 5 at 8 a.m. in the Bryan Fellowship Hall. Doughnuts, bagels, coffee and juice will be available. Topics to be discussed include upcoming programs, hands-on mission opportunities, the 2001 fertilizer and pine straw sale, the Sept. 16 golf outing, and the appointment of a nominating committee for next year's officers. All men of the church are invited to attend.
