'The Changing Church' is topic of discussion at FUMC seminar Aug. 26

Author and professor Dr. Robert Webber will explore the themes of new trends in churches in a one-day workshop entitled “Authentic Worship in a Changing World” on Saturday, Aug. 26, from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church. The fee is $59 for pre-registrants and $79 for walk-ins. Both Laity and church leaders are encouraged to attend.

In the workshop, Dr. Webber not only explores principles of authentic God-oriented worship, but also helps churches to build bridges into the changing world.

“In his work as college and seminary professor, Dr. Webber has surveyed many of his classes for worship trends of Generation X,” a spokesperson said. “ His findings show that Gen X-ers are longing to experience the power and mystery of God—but maybe not in the same way their baby boomer parents have experienced God.”

Registration starts at 8 a.m. The workshop runs from 8:45 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., with snacks and lunch provided. Call the Institute for Worship Studies at 630-510-8905 to preregister.
