Inman
UMC to celebrate 'Camp Meeting Month' Members of Inman United Methodist Church will have Camp Meeting Month during the entire month of August, with casual services on Sunday mornings and revival-type services each Sunday night. We will get into the Camp Meeting `spirit' with a more casual approach each Sunday, a spokesperson said. Everyone is encouraged to come dressed casually and ready to sing and worship as if we were at an old-fashioned camp meeting. Each Sunday night we will gather at 7:30 p.m. for a series of `revival' services designed to refresh our spirits. The Aug. 6 service will be held at the Minter Farm and will feature Dr. Sam Matthews, pastor of Fayetteville First United Methodist Church as guest speaker. Dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be prepared by the TBA Sunday School class. Donations will benefit the building fund. The service will start at 7:30 p.m. On Aug. 13, the speaker will be the Rev. Bob Kerr, associate pastor at North Fayette United Methodist Church. Dinner at the Minter Farm starts at 6:30 p.m. and will be prepared by the Ages and Stages Sunday School class, with donations again benefiting the building fund. On Aug. 20, the meeting will be held at the church, with fellowship to follow. Former Inman UMC pastor Rev. Davis Chappell will be the speaker. On Aug. 27, the evening's events will begin with dinner at 5:30 p.m. at the home of Ken and Shelly Scurry, followed by the service at 7:30 p.m. Tommy Greer, a lawyer and part-time local pastor from Carrollton will be the speaker. Special music will be provided by the group Reason, from Rome, Ga. The community is invited to attend all events. For more information or for directions, call the church at 770-461-2123.
