Mayor 'Annex' is stacking the deck in favor of density Supersoakers at the July 4th parade are a tradition. Fortunately, Ms. Herman's letter seeking common sense did not suggest that no one should get wet. Because the people's wishes are ignored, it is the only opportunity to show politicians our dissatisfaction. Hitting Mayor Annex in the back was symbolic of how he is stabbing Peachtree City residents in the back with his unwanted annexation project. No amount of negative feedback, apparently, is going to slow him down. He is again using the old committee strategy, just like he did when the residents clamored for a smoking ordinance. Back then he stacked a committee with business owners and smokers (like himself) who did not want to ban smoking. Surprise! The committee recommended a worthless sign ordinance. Is there anyone out there who does not think this new committee will recommend annexation that will allow developers to double the population for that area than the county zoning would have allowed? Any council member considering a vote for annexation should be required to spend one week driving continuously on Ga. Highway 54 from Peachtree Parkway to Ga. Highway 34 and back, during the commuting hours of 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. That alone should eliminate any positive votes. Council members should also realize that helping their developer buddies with annexation would be political suicide. Anyone voting to annex would have difficulty being elected dog catcher. Citizens always jettison politicians who do not listen. Let us not rush this thing through. Let us put an opinion poll on the November ballot and see just what the Peachtree City population wants. Or is Mayor Annex unwilling to hear the wishes of his constituents? Bill
