Buckarama
returns to Atlanta By
MICHAEL BOYLAN Buckarama, the world's largest trade show of its kind, is returning to the Atlanta Expo Center bigger and better than ever. This year's show, sponsored by the Georgia Wildlife Federation, is packed with world-class exhibitors and informative seminars, as well as inexpensive hunting equipment, door prizes and more. Headlining this year's show is big game hunter Rodney Kelly. Kelly has hunted all over North America and will have the many different species he has harvested on display. He will give a daily seminar on how he took the different species and will discuss his hunting techniques. Galen Shinkle, a modern day Robin Hood, also will be on hand, perrforming some of the most amazing trick shooting archery in the world. He made the Guinness Book of World Records in 1989 for hitting 10 bulls eyes in a six-inch disk in 60 seconds, while hanging upside down from his friend's teeth. Shinkle will give a free youth archery lesson daily. Prizes will be awarded in each class. Sam Collora is another celebrated hunter attending the show. In 1996, Collora harvested the highest gross scoring typical white-tailed deer ever taken with a bow in the world. He will conduct several seminars discussing hunting techniques, the use of scents and lures, and white-tailed deer body language. There will be plenty more seminars for the avid hunter, including an exhibition of Roy Coffey's hunting dogs in action. There will also be hundreds of wild game and deer on display. As with every year, there will be the lowest prices on hunting equipment, door prizes and a chance to win a 2001 Ford Sport Trac. Admission is $7 for adults, $4 for senior citizens and children 6-12; children under 6 are free. There is always free parking at Buckarama. Phone 770-787-7887. |
