Briefs FUMC's Third Thursday group to visit Andersonville The Third Thursday group at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, adults age 55 and older, will take a trip to the Andersonville National Historic Site in Andersonville on Thursday, July 20. The group will leave the church parking lot at 8 a.m. and return at approximately 6 p.m. Newcomers are welcome and there is no cost for the trip. FUMC members plan baseball outing Members of Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will travel to Turner Field to watch the Atlanta Braves play the New York Mets on Saturday, July 22. The church has purchased 100 tickets for the game which starts at 1:05 p.m. Tickets are $25. The group will gather in the Center Field Pavilion for a hot dog lunch prior to the game. Providence UMC announces music camp for kids Providence United Methodist Church will have a summer music camp for children who are rising third graders through eighth grade on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, July 25, 26 and 27 from 9 a.m. until noon. Focus of the camp will be to learn uniformed movements using sticks to interpret contemporary Christian music. Cost is $15. To register, call the church office at 770-718-8800. Bethany men plan breakfast at Shoney's All Men of Bethany United Methodist Church are invited to a fellowship breakfast at Shoney's Saturday, July 29 at 8 a.m. Old Fashioned Camp meeting planned at Nat'l Hgts. National Heights Baptist Church will have an old fashioned camp meeting service Sunday morning, July 30, at 10:55 a.m. The service will be followed by a churchwide luncheon. FFBC youth plan overnight rafting trip July 31, Aug. 1 Youth of Fayetteville First Baptist Church are invited to attend an overnight whitewater rafting trip on the Nantahalia River. FFBC ladies will attend WMU leadership training Ladies at Fayetteville First Baptist Church are invited to attend the South Metro Baptist Association WMU Leadership Training event on Saturday, Aug. 5 from 9 a.m. until noon at Harp's Crossing Baptist Church in Fayetteville. RECC men to hold midnight prayer vigil Men of River's Edge Community church are invited to attend the dinner and prayer vigil scheduled for Friday, Aug. 4, beginning at 7 p.m. There will be a special guest speaker for the dinner, followed by special prayer until midnight. FUMC accepting 2000-2001 preschool applications The Child Development Center at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church is accepting applications for the 2000-2001 school year. Classes are planned for three-year-olds (must be three by Sept. 1) and four-year-olds (must be four by Sept. 1). A one-time, non-refundable registration fee is required at the time of registration. North Fayette UMC opens preschool registration Registration for fall preschool classes at North Fayette United Methodist Church are underway with application forms available in the church office. Classes will be offered for children who will be 3 or 4 years old by Sept. 1, 2000. Classes for 3-year-olds will meet Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
