Next 4th, leave water guns at home

My family and I would like to congratulate Peachtree City and the parade participants for a wonderful parade. Everything was great with one exception — the Super Soakers!

Our group of spectators consisted of five adults and five children under the age of 6. We attended the parade in front of Ruby Tuesdays. Directly across from us were two groups of people with Super Soakers.

These two groups had no regard for other spectators or parade participants. They were dousing virtually every parade group, including floats with seniors, adolescents and children.

I overheard one girl (approximately 10 years old) say she was hit directly in the ear (as she was shaking the water out.) Young cheerleaders were doused as they were trying to do their routine. Some vehicles were targeted in their open windows. My group of spectators was hit numerous times from across the road.

The worst was when I was bent down with my 3-year-old son and we both got a direct hit in the face. My son was obviously upset. The worst Super Soaker offenders were adults; one man was obviously over 60 years of age.

Please, if you're going to use Super Soakers at our parade, use some common sense. I understand the fun of it, but douse the parade participants or spectators that are carrying their own Super Soakers. They expect and want a challenge and they are actively seeking the same wet fun.
