Hooters opponents should try different approach, like Jesus

Judging from the comments on the recent zoning hearing, the majority of residents of Fayette County are opposed to the locating of a Hooters in Fayetteville. Not!

Let's face it, Hooters has done their market research and have concluded that a restaurant in Fayetteville would have enough business to turn a nice profit. My guess is that the number of patrons in the first day alone will dwarf the number that attended the zoning hearing in opposition.

However, all hope is not lost for the opponents. You do have one way to stop the Hooters juggernaut: convince your fellow citizens to simply not patronize the establishment. It will force them out of business and in the future other similar business will think twice about locating in Fayette County.

Instead of trying to use the power of government to force your views on the rest of the county and further erode our right of self determination, use that moral authority to strengthen our own ability to exercise that right in a moral and mature manner.

A victory at the zoning board will be temporary while a victory in changing the views of the citizens of the country will be lasting.

Jesus did not force anyone to follow him; he simply asked and provided the teaching. The Christians of this county need to follow his example.
