The Market's 'beach party' ads show club's true intent

Having raised two teenagers in Fayetteville, I appreciate the need for a protected place where teens can “hang out.” When first reading about The Market (Fayetteville's youth club) I was not in favor of its location (there's not enough parking and it is too near private homes), but loved the concept.

Also, learning that a “minister” sponsored it caused me to believe good values would be upheld.

I have been duped! Yesterday, I was given a handout promoting The Market which displays a scantily clothed female in a bikini/thong. It was an invitation to come to “Fayetteville Beach 2000” Saturday, July 15 for a $250 Bikini contest. It announced that “Life's a B__ch in Fayetteville,” but the offense does not stop there!

Directions are given from I-85 South through Old National into Fayetteville. I thought this was a wholesome place for our community's youth. The Market appears to be nothing more than an Atlanta metropolitan teenage strip club alive and well in the middle of our town.

I am outraged by the vivid depravity of The Market and I call upon our city's officials, all concerned citizens and caring parents to do everything within their power to close The Market at once.

Should anyone want to start a legitimate club for teens in our community (situated where parking is sufficient and in a location where loud music won't disturb residential neighborhoods), I would gladly volunteer as a chaperone.
