Incident at Speedway overshadowed by great racing action

Tallahassee, Florida's Marc Mitchell wins for the fourth time in five weeks of racing in the Late Model division at the Senoia Speedway on Saturday night, during the Alan Vigil Southlake Ford 50 lap feature. Mitchell, who is sponsored by Mitchell Brothers Construction, started on the outside of the second row worked his way through traffic early but was held up by Budweiser Pole Award winner Wayne Hansard for numerous laps.

Mitchell eventually inherited the lead from rookie driver and Pole sitter Chad Caldwell on lap 27 when Caldwell slipped up into the marbles exiting turn four as the two came towards the start/finish line.

"If the race had it been only 25 laps I would've won," said Chad Caldwell, driver of the #10 Ford Thunderbird. "The car handled real good for the first 10 laps, but after that it started pushing in three and four and got worse and worse. He got by me after that." caldwell eventually finished in second place.

Credited with third and fourth place finishes were McDonough's John Beach and Watkinsville's Ronnie Kittles. Fifth place went to Fayetteville's Charlie Bagwell with Jefferson's Lee Langford finishing sixth.

In a post race incident the original third and fourth place finishers, Gabriel Corbitt and Wayne Hansard were moved to the final two positions.

"After the race was over the Bill Heard Chevrolet sponsored car driven by Wayne Hansard hit the Snap On Tools sponsored car driven by Gabriel Corbitt in a very un-sportsmanlike manner. The Corbitt car did retaliate." said Smitty Lee, Senoia Speedway Track Owner. Smitty added, "We try to keep this racing clean and because of that they were both moved back to the ninth and tenth finishing position which wiped out a good finish for both cars after a hard earned race. Our track officials upheld that there would be no bumping after the checkered flag."

Brook's Andy Cash picked up another win in the Sportsman division on Saturday night when he took the lead with 13 laps remaining. Finishing a close second was Senoia's John Bell with Mike Jenkins of Brooks in third. Fourth place went to Pike County's Larry Pierce.

Robbie "Go-Go" Gober led from start to finish in the Street Stock Division at Senoia Speedway Saturday night for his third win of the season. Finishing a close second after the restart of the single caution was last week's winner Griffin's Jason Turner. Senoia's Mark Lore finished third followed by Senoia's Ted Willingham.

Double points and double money were at stake Saturday night as the Mini Stocks competed in a 50 lap feature. It was Jonesboro's Cary Hamilton who took advantage of Darrell Carlson's blown motor to take the lead with five laps remaining for the win. Carlson led the first 44 laps of the event. In second was Gay, Georgia's Troy French who battled door to door with Hamilton earlier in the feature. Collin Roetman of Senoia returned to racing for the first time this season rendering a respectable third place finish. Fourth place went to Brook's Arthur Jordan with LaGrange's Shawn Mormon rounding out the top five.

Newcomer to Senoia Speedway Kevin Kennemore took the lead for his first win of the season Saturday night. Kennemore took the lead from Shane Upchurch to finish second with two laps remaining on Saturday night's Pro and Semi-Pro Legends Race at Senoia Speedway. Third place went to Lovejoy's Doug Stevens with Rusty Lanier in fourth followed by Tallahassee's Marc Mitchell in fifth. Mitchell led the first 16 laps of the race until Doug Stevens spun Mitchell with 9 laps remaining sending them both to the rear of the field.

Senoia's Bubba Pollard took the lead from Woodstock's Joey Boyer with 13 laps remaining to record his 5th win of the season at Senoia Speedway Saturday night in the Legends, Young LyonsChargers Division. Pollard led from that point on after a three car spin involving Joey Boyer, Scott Tinsley, and Nick Hill. The three were sent to the rear on lap 16.

Finishing five car lengths back in second place was Senoia's Scott Tinsley who worked back up through the field after his spin. Third place went to Chad Brawn. Fourth place went to Bubba Harry who turned in his highest finish of the season. Rounding off the top five was Joey Boyer followed by last week's winner Nick Hill in sixth who started in eighth position.
