Why
were 'bus sex' students sent to 'alternative school? Why were the two students who were found engaging in fornication on a Fayette County public school bus given the opportunity to complete their academic year at the Fayette County Alternative School? Is that where the Board of Education has seen fit to officially address such misbehavior? If so, why there? Doesn't the Fayette County Alternative School have students and parents within its own ranks who do not want to be exposed to such company, either? Tell us all what the word alternative really means in this case. It seems as though the Alternative School was used as a dumping ground for these students who were guilty of this inappropriate sexual conduct. Doesn't that send a message about the Fayette County Alternative School that is less than desirable and less than academically-focused? So, what is the real purpose of the Fayette County Alternative School? Why was it an alternative for these two students to go there in the first place when they should have simply been expelled? Expulsion would have at least communicated to all students, parents, and citizens of this community that these students clearly functioned outside of what is decent and normal and that such behavior among students is not and never will be tolerated or accepted in our community. Finally, what the two students really need is an atmosphere that will allow them to hear and embrace the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ in order to address this issue. But of course, if they aren't getting this type of education in their homes, we all know this isn't an alternative at all in the public school system, now is it? Danielle A. Mathis Fayetteville
