Productions
near for Fayette Community Theatre BY MICHAEL
BOYLAN Things are going swimmingly for Fayette Community Theatre this summer. The company's production of the musical Guys and Dolls has been cast and rehearsals are underway, as are rehearsals for the children's classic Peter and the Wolf. More than 200 people auditioned for Guys and Dolls, which is being directed by Peachtree City resident Ryan Pierini. Pierini appeared in many FCT productions in high school, received a bachelor of theater arts degree from Georgia College and State University, and is currently studying for his master's at the University of Mississippi. For the first time ever, FCT used videotape to compare the talents of each candidate in auditions. In casting the actors for each role, we considered their considerable talents in voice, dance and acting, said Pierini. We based our decisions on the outstanding talents that each actor brought to the character they have been selected to portray. Pierini, musical director Millie Turek, and choreographer Jonsie Pollock, look forward to making Guys and Dolls the most memorable production in FCT's 17-year history. Guys and Dolls will be staged at Sams Auditorium July 13-16 and July 22-22. The production of Peter and the Wolf is being produced in conjunction with the Peachtree City, Tyrone and Fayette County public libraries and their summer reading programs. Aron Hall, a recent graduate of Starr's Mill, will be at the helm of the classic tale. Hall has recently performed in the Farmer-Butz Wedding with the House Red Theater Company, as well as the sketch comedy troupe Creatures of Habit. Over the past several years we have supported this excellent summer program for youngsters by introducing them to the experience of live theater, said Sylvia Wade, chairman of Fayette Community Theatre Inc. In order to attend the free performance children must be a part of the summer reading program, which continues through July. The play will be performed at the Peachtree City Library July 20, the Tyrone Library July 21 and the Fayette County Library in Fayetteville July 27.
