Silverbacks defeat Riverhounds, 2-1

The Silverbacks faced the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at DeKalb Memorial Stadium last Saturday and got a big win to go above .500.

With Guy Norcott, Jacenir Silva, Danny Care and Zion Renfrum holding a tight defensive line, the Silverbacks played an offensive oriented game during the first half. Brian Piesner made a few great attempts on goal in the first half, but was unable to complete his shots until the second half. Pittsburgh's Leidy Klotz in the 41st minute of the game.

Early in the second half, Silverbacks forward Iggy Moleka evened the score in the 49th minute, against the Riverhounds, scoring a goal off of a penalty kick. Brian Piesner scored his first goal of the season off of an assist by Iggy Moleka in the 69th minute of the game. Piesner's and Moleka's goals pushed the Silverbacks ahead 2-1 against the Riverhounds securing the victory.

The Silverbacks played a very competitive, offensive game against the Riverhounds, managing to have over ten powerful shots on goal during the game.

With the Silverbacks fifth win of the season, the team moves ahead this week with a total of 24 points in A-League Standings. The Silverbacks record of five wins, four losses and one tie. The Riverhounds are currently 4-4-1.

The Silverbacks will play next on Sunday, June 18th as they take on the Hampton Roads Mariners at 5pm at DeKalb Memorial Stadium.
