year-old dominates Senoia Speedway Marc Mitchell from Tallahassee, Fla. recorded his second win in two weeks in the Late Model division at Senoia Speedway as he led the remaining forty laps of the Allan Vigil Southlake Ford 50. Mitchell's qualifying time topped the charts with a 14.00 second lap. Mitchell in the Mitchell Brothers Construction Silver Chevrolet Monte Carlo, with the help of former Senoia Speedway driver Rusty Clanton, has made a large impact on the Speedway the last two weeks as he followed the guidance of Clanton to record his second win. This is only his seventh race in the Late Model Series and first year in racing, adds Mitchell's father Eddie Mitchell. Marc has taken to the sport of auto racing like a pro. He finished second in the Legends Young Lyons Nationals last year in his Rookie season. This past winter at the Winter Nationals during Speedweek in Daytona Marc won the Pro Legends Series. Saturday night Mitchell regained the lead on lap 10 after being passed by Tyrone's Scott Griffin on lap six when Griffin jumped Mitchell on a restart after a caution to lead from that point for the win. Griffin held on to finish second with Wayne Hansard in third moving up from his eighth place starting position. B.J. Holley of Jackson, Ga. started last in the field and finished fourth. Senoia's Chad Caldwell finished fifth followed by John Beach finishing sixth. Jimmy Henderson in the 28 car led the remaining 19 laps of the Sportsman class to record his first ever win at Senoia Speedway during the Double Points/Double Money Feature Race in the Sportsman Division. Blake Griffin of Grantville, Ga. made it two wins in the last two weeks at Senoia Speedway in the Street Stock Division as he took the lead with nine laps remaining from Jason Turner from Griffin. Turner hung on to finish a close second to Griffin with Senoias Mark Lore finishing third. Mini Stock Fayetteville's Darrell Carlson recorded his fourth win of the season in Mini Stock when he led all 25 laps from start to finish. Finishing a close second was the eight car of Cary Hamilton of Jonesboro. Young Lyons/Chargers The Young Lions/Chargers division was filled with excitement as Senoia's Scott Tinsley returned to Victory Lane this weekend. He inherited the lead and the win when Newnan's Emily Cone's motor let go. Finishing second to Tinsley was Joey Boyer with Cindy Anderson holding off Bobby East at the line for third. |
