McManus signs with Reinhardt

Zach McManus, graduate of McIntosh High School, signed a scholarship to attend Reinhardt College and play soccer beginning in the fall.

McManus, son of Steve and Dawn McManus, is the third Peachtree City plaayer to sign with Reinhardt this spring. He will join Beau Balesky and Fabian Lamy, as well as Reinhardt sophomore Jordan Vires of Arlington Christian School as members of the young Eagle soccer squad.

McManus has played Classic level club soccer for the Lightning Soccer Club. Last year, he played a variety of positions for Chris Hunt's `82 Gold team, Open Cup runners up. Before that he played for Carlos Mena in the Lightning program.

Due to a winter transfer from Starr's Mill High School to McIntosh, he was unable to compete interscholastically this year.

“Zach was the first player I recruited way back in the fall,” said Reinhardt Coach Jonathan Lenarz. “I am excited to receive his commitment. He is one of the most versatile Classic level players I saw, easily on a par with fellow Lightning teammates Kenny Adams, Justin Mygatt, Jeff Dolbeer and Ryan Saxby, all who were named to the AJC Southside Soccer Team.

“Zach has fantastic size and is an intense competitor,” Lenarz added. “He will be an immediate asset in our central midfield on defense.”

Reinhardt finished the 1999-2000 regular season 8-11, winning the South Region of the National Christian College Association of America, finishing eighth at the NCCAA National Tournament.

The school also is a member of the Georgia-Alabama-Carolina Conference of the NAIA.
