Day at Dixieland to raise money for Heart Association American Heart Association's Heart of Dixieland A Fun Day at DixieLand Fun Park will be Saturday, June 17, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (unlimited rides & games from 9 - noon; lunch noon - 1 p.m.) The Fayette County American Heart Association and DixieLand Fun Park have teamed up for a fun day to raise money for the nonprofit group. The AHA is selling tickets for unlimited rides and games for $20 per person. Included in the price of the ticket is a free lunch served from noon to 1 p.m. Occumed Medical Management also will sponsor a health fair with cholesterol, glucose, body fat and blood pressure testing. There will be a charge for the cholesterol screening, but other tests are free although donations are accepted. A silent auction of items donated by local toy stores and other businesses will be ongoing throughout the morning event. Goody bags filled with fun items, coupons and other information will be given to the first 500 attending the event. Additionally, numerous door prizes, including more tickets to DixieLand Fun Park, will be given away at various times during the four-hour fund-raiser. The park has plenty to offer fun-lovers. There are three miniature golf courses, bumper boats, bumper cars, batting cages, and the ever popular Laser Duel maze. For the younger children, the Playmaze and go-karts will entertain for hours. Inside the facility are rows of arcade games most will be available for playing during the event at no additional charge. The park will open early Saturday, June 17 for the Heart Association. Tickets allow those enjoying the event to ride and play from 9 a.m. to noon. At noon, lunch will be served on the new pavilion on the lake. The health fair and silent auction will be open from 9 a.m. to noon. FayetteCounty.org, one of the event sponsors, is giving away two tickets to one lucky winner at its web site, www.FayetteCounty.org. Tickets also may be ordered through the web site. Current sponsors of the fund-raiser to help in the fight against Fayette County's number one killer, heart disease, include Braelinn Kroger, Carl Davis, Occumed Medical Management, Harold Bost, GTO's Fabulous Fifties Drive-In Restaurant, DixieLand Fun Park, Cooper Lighting, Kwik Kopy Printing and the Respess Family. Sponsorships are still available for donations of $200 or more. Sponsors receive two tickets, may display their company banners inside the park or on the fence facing Ga. Highway 85, may set up a display table in the park during the event, and may place their company information or promotional items inside goody bags to be distributed to the first 500 attendees.
