Sharks complete an undefeated season By
MICHAEL BOYLAN The Peachtree City Sharks just completed an undefeated 12-0 season. The team, coached by Marsha Stephens, who has been deaf since birth, consisted of 13 girls, five of which had no prior softball experience. With the help of assistant coaches Darren Fitzwater and Rick Conaway, the girls devoted many hours of practice and worked hard to develop their skill, speed and, most importantly, the ability to play as a cohesive team. This is Stephens' third season coaching the Peachtree City 8 and Under girls division. Her 42-1 record speaks for itself about her coaching skills and her ability to motivate each member of the team. Stephens has always loved sports and played softball and basketball throughout the high school in Macon, Ga. and at Middle Georgia College in Calhoun. She also has accepted the head coach position for the 8 and under girls All-star team, which will represent Peachtree City in tournaments throughout the summer. |
