Creek students are big winners in the market Maybe your next stock tip should come from students at Sandy Creek High School. Students at the school won this year's Georgia Council on Economic Education's Stock Market Game in the county's Internet version of the competition. After starting with a hypothetical investment of $100,000, the team finished with a portfolio worth $147,962. Student teams competed in two stock market game categories: paper and Internet. Students playing the paper version mailed in their trades each week, while students playing the Internet version traded online. Every spring and fall, more than 40,000 students from elementary to high school, public and private, compete in Georgia's stock market game, which is the second largest in the nation. Over a half million Georgia students have completed in the game since 1980. Winning teams were honored at a luncheon May 16. |
