Nominations
open for Swimmer of the Year and Fayette Swimming Hall of
Fame Nominations are now open for the 1999 Swimmer of the Year and for inclusion in the Fayette County Swimming Hall of Fame. Deadline is June 15. Sponsored by the Southside Seals, the premier masters swim team in the south metro Atlanta area, the Swimmer Of The Year is awarded annually to the most outstanding male and female swimmers for the last calendar year in Fayette. The award is open to swimmers that are residents of Fayette County or members of USS, high school, and recreation teams that are based in Fayette County. Selection is based on the accomplishments of those swimmers in the pool, classroom and community. The winners of the awards receive a plaque and their names are added to a master plaque displayed at the home pool of the Southside Seals, sponsoring organization. The Fayette County Swimming Hall Of Fame recognizes lifetime achievement by swimmers and coaches as residents of Fayette County or as members of a Fayette County based team. Members of the hall receive a award plaque and are listed on a plaque displayed at the home pool of the Southside Seals. No more than four individuals can be elected to the hall in any year. Awards are selected by a five-person committee consisting of representatives of the Southside Seals, local USS, recreation, and High School teams. The winners will be notified in late June with the awards to be presented in early July. Swimming is a life sport that is enjoyed by over two million people of all ages and abilities. Visit the Southside Seals web site at http://www.mindspring.com/~krw83/SEALS.HTM for information and nomination forms. Nomination forms can also be obtained by phoning Steve Justice at 770-964-5323. |
