Business partners of the year announced

The Fayette County Board of Realtors and former Sylvan Learning Center owner Ann Carr were recently announced as the business partners of the year.

The award is presented by the Fayette County Partners in Education program. More than 150 companies participate in the program and 14 were nominated for partners of the year.

A committee of school officials and business leaders chose the two companies for the excellence in their partnerships.

The realtors have been an active sponsor in the Friends Mentor Program for the last three years and works with more than 300 students on 25 different projects.

Carr was cited for her myriad of activities with students.

“When Carr is not snuggled up on the sofa in the media center reading to a student, mentoring in academic areas, or just lending encouragement, she is offering her financial resources to purchase school logo shirts for all members of the school staff,” said Peachtree City Elementary School principal Rebekah Maddux.

The mission of the program is to create, maintain and focus a program through which companies, governments and civic agencies can form a partnership with schools to provide enhanced educational opportunities.
