| Movies Opening Friday Road Trip — This year's version of American Pie stars some of the same actors. It also stars Tom Green, who is always good for laughs. This would noit be for the kiddies. Rated R. Now Playing 28 Days — Sandra Bullock stars in this drama-comedy about a recovering alcoholic. Directed by Betty Thomas (The Brady Bunch Movie and Private Parts), 28 Days should be just quirky enough to work. Rated PG-13. Battlefield Earth — In the future, Earth is attacked by nine foot aliens called Psyklons. They look like really ugly versions of John Travolta. Rated PG-13. Center Stage — A girl moves to the Big Apple to be a dancer, but does she have enough heart and will she make the grade ? The big city can be a tough place to live and a tough place to love. Rated PG-13. Final Destination — A young man sees a vision of his flight exploding and gets off the plane. He cheated Death and now Death is stalking him and his friends. It is an interesting premise. Rated R. The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas — A new Flinstone movie with a new cast. This film focuses on the early years. Call it When Fred met Wilma or When Barney met Betty). P.S. Harvey Korman reprises his role as The Great Gazoo. Rated PG. Frequency — A man connects with his father 30 years in the past thanks to a magic ham radio. Dennis Quaid stars. Rated PG-13. Gladiator — The summer movie season officially begins with this film, which cost over $100 million to make. Russell Crowe (The Insider) stars as Maximus, asoldier who is enslaved and must fight for honor and survival. Rated R. Held Up — Jamie Foxx stars in this comedy about a couple that gets stuck out in the desert. It really doesn't matter what it is about. jamie Foxx is funny and that's all there is to it. Rated PG-13. Dreamed of Africa — Kim Basinger stars in this film about a woman and Africa. Rated PG-13. Love and Basketball — A female basketball player loves her hoops and her man. This looks to be another inspiring sports movie. Rated PG-13. Rules of Engagement — Samuel L. Jackson is on trial for alleged war crimes and it is up to Tommy Lee Jones to clear his name and bring down the real man responsible. Rated R. The Road to El Dorado — Dreamworks brings us the animated tale of two men's search for the Lost City of Gold. Elton John and Tim Rice did the music, so expect this toa be in next year's Oscar program. Rated PG. Screwed — Norm MacDonald and Dave Chapelle star in this comedy about a dognapping gone horribly wrong. Rated PG-13. Skulls — Joshua Jackson stars in this film about a college student that joins the wrong secret society. Craig T. Nelson plays a powerful man and a lifetime member in the club. Rated PG-13. U-571 — An American submarine crew in WWII finds a German submarine and must battle to stay alive. Matthew McConaughey and Harvey Keitel star. Rated PG-13. Where The Heart Is — A girl gives birth to a baby and lives in a hidden corner of a Wal-Mart. Natalie Portman, Ashley Judd and Stockard Channing star. Rated PG-13. Also Playing American Beauty — This comes out on video this week, but the dollar theater is cheaper than renting videos. Winner of five Academy Awards, American Bauty is well worth whatever price you pay. Rated R. Beyond the Mat — The behind the scenes film that Pro Wrestling does not want you to see. This film was critically acclaimed and focuses on wrestlers in both WWF and WCW. Rated R. Bicentennial Man — Robin Williams stars as a robot who yearns to be human. This film got mild reviews and was very unassuming and non-challenging. This would be the place to see it. Rated PG. Drowning Mona – I heard mixed reviews about this film. Bette Midler plays the most hated woman in town and everyone in town is a suspect in her death. Rated PG-13. Galaxy Quest — A very fun movie that leaves you begging for a Galaxy Quest 2. The cast was great (Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver) and the jokes are great. Rated PG. Ready to Rumble — Obviously this movie is lowbrow, but lowbrow can be funny. This was a good way to waste 90 minutes and a lot of my favorite wrestlers were in the movie. Rated PG-13. Scream 3 — Do you like scary movies ? This one is more scary than funny. Chance are you are tired of these movies, but this is the last one and well worth the price of admission. Rated R. The Green Mile — Tom Hanks plays a guard on death row who witnesses several miracles performed by a condemned man. Rated R. The Next Best Thing — Madonna wants a baby and, since she can't ever do anything the easy way, she enlists the help of her gay friend.After that, things get complicated and brother, that's when the fun begins (maybe). Rated PG-13.
