After months of anticipation, Barnes & Noble is set to open its doors next Wednesday in Fayetteville.

The book-selling giant's new store is located at 1415 Ga. Highway 85 north, across he street from the Fayette Pavilion.

Next Tuesday, the store holds a special preview party from 6-9 p.m. A part of the proceeds from any sales at the party will go to the Fayette County Community Literacy Action Program.

Residents who want to attend the event should call 770-716-2593 to add their name to the list. Admission is free.

Assistant store manager Jackie Graham said eight authors will be signing books at the events, along with many activities for the kids.

“Winnie the Pooh will be there and we'll also have storytelling and crafts,” Graham said.

Once the store is open, it will be a lively center for all things literary in the county.

Graham said a writer's group will form, along with several different book clubs. On Sundays, soft music will play during coffee time to provide a gentle background to shopping and reading.

The store features a Starbucks for residents who enjoy a mocha with their Mary Higgins Clark and book signings will be a regular event.

The store opens officially at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
