New members class starts in May at McDonough Road

A class designed to help new and prospective members become familiar with the church will be taught at 9:45 a.m. each Sunday in May at McDonough Road Baptist Church. “Discovering Church Membership” is targeted toward persons 18 years of age and up who have joined since Oct. 1 or those who would like more information before joining. Other interested persons are welcome. Dr. David Chancey will facilitate the classes while involving others in leading the various sessions. The first class will be taught in the Fellowship Hall beginning Sunday, May 7. For more information, call the church at 770-460-5423.

Newnan Presbyterian plans children's art show, dinner

The Newnan Presbyterian Preschool and Kindergarten is sponsoring a pasta dinner and children's art show Wednesday, May 3, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the new fellowship hall. Pasta, salad, bread, dessert and beverage will be available for $5 for adults and $2.50 for children 10 and under. Take-outs are welcome. A raffle drawing will be held at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the preschool office. For more information, call 770-253-5018.

Zion Lutheran offers Parents' Night Out

Parent volunteers of Zion Lutheran Church in Newnan will offer a Parents' Night Out on Friday, May. 5, from 6:30-10:30 p.m., giving adults the opportunity to have some time for themselves while their children participate in age-appropriate activities and games. Registration is required one week in advance and there is a fee of $5 per family to cover the cost of snacks. The church is at 53 Country Club Rd. in Newnan. Parents who would like to register their children may call the church office at 770-253-2884.

Faith and Fitness group starts Saturday at Providence

A Faith and Fitness group for women at Providence United Methodist Church will begin Saturday, May 6, at the home of Carol Axford. The group will meet from 8-10 a.m., using the first hour for Bible study and the second for walking, for those who choose to stay. The first study is entitled “Becoming a Woman of Excellence.” Meetings are scheduled for the first Saturday of each month.
