Fayette Middle girls track wins county again

The Fayette Middle School girls track team won their second consecutive county championship last week. Fayette Middle won the meet with 112 points, while Booth Middle School was right behind them with 107 points. Rising Starr finished in third with 37 points, while Whitewater placed fourth with 35 points and Flat Rock Middle took fifth with 13 points.

The meet came down to the last two events and Fayette Middle won, having a first and second place finisher in the 3200m. Lauren Schmus was the county champ in the 3200m. Camille Lily was county champion in both the 400m and the triple jump. Lily set a new county record in the 400m with a time of 1:05.17. Other county champions for Fayette Middle included Becky Carder in the shotput and Amber Mutter in the 100m Hurdles.

Fayette Midle will meet Booth Middle School this week in a dual meet this Thursday. The two schools will then see each other again in the league championship on Saturday, April 29. The league championship involves all of the middle schools in Fayette and Henry County and will be held at McIntosh High School at 1 p.m.
