Liberals make Cuba into warm, fuzzy 'alternate'

Of all the arguments surrounding the case of Elian Gonzalez, the most disturbing are Janet Reno's reference to Cuba as having just “an alternative political system,“ and some legislators statements that giving Elian citizenship would require us to also grant it to Haitians in the U.S.

Didn't we fight a cold war against Communism because we believed it cruel, immoral, antithetical to freedom, and unresponsive to the human spirit? So what is this about just an alternative political system? Don't liberals oppose dictators-for-life or just right-wing dictator's-for-life?

Castro's troops murdered 41 men, women and children on the tugboat “March 13th“ who were attempting to escape Cuba on July 13, 1994, washing babies from their mother's arms with fire hoses on the decks of their coast guard vessels. You probably hadn't heard. For some reason it was not publicized too well in the liberal mainstream media. One woman, Maria Garcia Suarez, lost 14 members of her family, including her 10-year-old son. Is this the “alternative political system“ to which we want Elian Gonzalez returned? Is this about cozying up to Fidel Castro so that Bill Clinton can add to his sad legacy the normalization of relations with Cuba?

So what about the Haitians? Didn't we “Clintonize“ Haiti? Didn't we send in the troops in 1994 to “restore democracy?“ Haven't we spent over $100 million dollars to remake Haiti in the socialist Clinton-Gore image? So Haitians ought to be standing in line to get back, shouldn't they? Or are we saying that the mission was a failure and the money misspent (like so much else the last eight years)? What better way to restore hope in Haiti than to transplant those fortunate Haitians who have been in the U.S. back to their native land where they can participate in “building socialism,“ along the lines of the Clinton-Gore plan for the U.S.

To suggest that anyone would be better off to live under Clinton-Gore's socialism, Castro's communism or any other fraud of an “alternative political system“ typifies the legacy of lies in the Clinton-Gore Administration and defines their decade of deceit.
