FCH
Auxiliary among most active With more than 250 members and growing, Fayette Community Hospital's Auxiliary is one of the largest active auxiliary organizations in Georgia. Always present to brighten a patient's day, these volunteers can be seen throughout the hospital assisting in areas such as the emergency room, diagnostics, the intensive care unit, the fitness center, information, surgical services and the gift shop. The Auxiliary brings immeasurable benefits to the hospital, its patients and the community through its donations of time and contributions such as the recent purchase of four new Staxis noncollapsible wheelchairs that will be used in the Emergency Room and Information Lobby, said a spokesman. The Auxiliary also coordinates blood drives, fund-raisers and decorating the hospital during holidays. Recently, the Auxiliary received the 1999 American Red Cross Blood Drive Award for the largest participation from a community hospital in the Southeast District. The warm smiles and kind words that our Auxiliary brings to FCH are appreciated, admired and respected by our patients and families, as well as our employees, said Darrell Cutts, CEO. Their presence makes a tremendous difference in the care that we are able to give to our patients. Becoming involved in the Hospital Auxiliary is easy. There are two types of volunteers active and associate. Active volunteers contribute $25 per year and pledge to give their time for a minimum of 75 hours a year or 50 hours during evenings and weekends. Associate members are those who have the opportunity to enjoy all Auxiliary-sponsored events, from community fund-raisers to the annual holiday luncheon, have no required number of volunteer hours and make a $75 annual contribution. Men and women of all ages are invited to join. For information, or to join, stop by the hospital and fill out an application, or call the Auxiliary office at 770-719-7097. Fayette Community Hospital, a not-for-profit subsidiary of Piedmont Medical Center and member of PROMINA Health System, is on Ga. Highway 54 in Fayetteville.
