This is the final week of the regular season of high school soccer. Most schools were off for the entire week, while some teams had to round out their schedule or were still jockeying for playoff position.

The McIntosh Lady Chiefs played in the Wando Women's Soccer Showcase Tournament last weekend. The Lady Chiefs played Langley, Va. and won by a score of 5-3. McIntosh then faced Riverside, SC and Wando, SC winning by scores of 7-2 and 4-0 respectively. The Lady Chiefs will host the Newnan Lady Cougars in the first round of the region playoffs next Tuesday.

On Tuesday night, the Newnan Lady Cougars fell to Griffin, 2-1. Newnan was down 2-0 at the half but opened the second half strongly with a goal from Lanie Scott. Though the Lady Cougars kept up the pressure, they could not get another goal. Griffin will host the Fayette County Lady Tigers next Tuesday evening.

The Fayette County Lady Tigers looked to be in playoff form on Tuesday night, as they tied Brookwood, 1-1. It was the first time in the last several meetings between the two teams that Fayette County did not lose. Amy Eller scored the goal for the Lady Tigers. She was assisted by Faith Joslin. Fayette County has one more game left in the regular season. They will host LaGrange on friday night at 7 p.m.

In the other game on Tuesday night, Starr's Mill's girls soccer team defeated Heritage, 2-0. The Lady Panthers are in top form and are the top seed in the region. They will host the first round of the playoffs in their new stadium next Tuesday night.

Wednesday night saw the McIntosh Chiefs crush the Newnan Cougars by a score of 7-0. McIntosh is the top seed in the region and will host either Newnan or Stockbridge in the playoffs next week. In the other Wednesday match, Fayette County's boys defeated the Chattahoochee High School Cougars by a score of 2-1. Down 1-0 late in the first half, the Tigers responded and scored off a penalty kick taken by Nick Zatezalo. Later in the second half, Zatezalo had a throw in deflect directly to Alex Crawford who gave the Tigers the win.

Fayette County has clinched a playoff spot, but must wait for the results of Griffin's game with LaGrange on Friday to determine their seeding.
