Supporting disaster victims

On Feb. 24, eight representatives from the Fayette County Board of Realtors traveled to Grady County in south Georgia to help with the tornado cleanup.

Those from our board participating in the project included Patti Reynolds (Reynolds & Reynolds LLC); Jim and Sylvia Brady (Century 21 Southern Crescent; Stacey Studley Collins (The Warner Law Firm); Kim Ryan-Smith (The Home Source, Realtors); Helen Garr, Fayette County Board of Realtors executive; and my husband, Bruce Hayhurst and myself (Coldwell Banker Fulton Realty).

Our group helped clean the debris from a farmer's 60-acre field. The Fayette Board also donated $2,000 to the Southwest Georgia Board of Realtors disaster fund.

Legislative Appreciation Day

The Fayette Board also had a delegation in attendance at Legislative Appreciation Day, which took place March 6.

The day's activities began with an opening session and breakfast at The Georgia Railroad Depot with Lt. Gov. Mark Taylor as keynote speaker. During the day, we were able to meet with our local legislators at the state Capitol, learn about pending legislation which might affect our business, and see the General Assembly act on important state issues.

Attending from our board were Minka Fulton of CB Fulton Realty; Terri Hornfeck of Re/Max Results; Mike Faulkner of Joyce Faulkner and Associates; Cindy Lester of Tri-City Realty; Mike Robinson of Re/Max Results; and myself.

The Fayette County Board or Realtors is one of more than 1,800 local boards and associations of Realtors that comprise the National Association of Realtors. As the nation's largest trade association, the national organization is “The Voice for Real Estate,” representing nearly 750,000 members involved in all aspects of the real estate industry. The Fayette County Board of Realtors can be contacted by calling 770-461-2401.
