Pension plans for small businesses was the topic of discussion at the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce Small Business Council luncheon. Kevin Rainwater with Manulife Insurance gave a brief presentation and answered questions regarding various pension plan options such as 401K's, simple IRA's and simple 401K's.

The meeting, sponsored by TCIS - The Complete Insurance Source, was at the Holiday Inn Express in Fayetteville. In addition to providing lunch for the council, prizes including a much-coveted box of golf balls and golf shirts were given away.

Phil Smelley, president of TCIS, said, “TCIS is always pleased to support chamber events and the Small Business Council.”

TCIS has sponsored past council meetings and events, and is a long-standing active member of the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce.

The Small Business Council meets each third Tuesday to network, exchange business information and learn. The luncheon meetings are sponsored by chamber member businesses and are open to the public. Attendance and lunch are free for chamber members and first time guests; the cost for returning non-members is $10. The sponsoring business provides lunch and a speaker for the meetings.

“Small businesses are an important part of our chamber member mix,” said Elissa Hall, president of the Fayette Chamber. “The Small Business Council is an excellent way for local businesses to get involved and find out what the chamber has to offer.”

Attendance at the council meetings ranges from 50 to more than 100 each month. The group sponsors the upcoming Small Business Showcase, presents an award for the Small Business of the Year, walks in the annual American Heart Association's Heart Walk, decorates a tree for the Board of REALTORS Noel November fundraiser and is involved in promoting small businesses in the community.
